MovieCo w/ Bella Fidjeland, Mark Banzhoff, and I

Group Goals:

  • We want to highlights Colorado scenery by finding filming locations in the state
  • We each selected five movies to mention and were responsible for finding movie posters and filming locations
  • We were inspired by Tess Stevens’s book map to simulate a Google Maps API and mash it with IMDB API for our concept idea

We individually discussed ideas with each other and landed on one we thought would be cool and useful to highlight the local scenery and create outdoor activities for movie buffs. The app will generate listings of movies filmed in your general area so you can visit the scene and relive your favorite moments.

The Process:

Once we had our concept idea we generated a shared Google Doc to drop our movie listings and locations. While we all played a part in the ideation process my primary role was developing workable solutions for how to achieve the assignment successfully as a group through delegation and facilitation of group meetings. I set up our Zoom meetings and created a group chat to improve coordination and correspondence through Slack. I also occasionally offered suggestions to improve the overall workflow. Mark Banzhoff worked on the inital ideas and visuals that Bella Fidjeland used to implement our Prototypes for web and mobile viewports.

Despite our best efforts to follow tutorials we could not sort out how to fetch any sort of API data. We tried for hours to just sort out how simple API’s works but ultimately remained confused on how to make them function in browser.
